Video Game Review - WarioWare Gold

So recently, Nintendo have been making some games that celebrate the best parts of the games' respective series and today we look at the latest one of these. So my experience with the WarioWare games has been a good one. The minigames available make me laugh as well as challenge me in a short space of time. So a good series like this would naturally get a game that brings the best minigames from most of the games in the series and compile them into one game. So let's see how this plays out:

The relatively short story that the game has sees Wario (reprised by the voice of Mario himself, Charles Martinet) trying to make money and decides to capitalise the game craze with the help of his friends. However unbeknowest to him and his friends, a mysterious force is at work to reclaim the gold pot that Wario seemingly stole. Like with before, each character has a set of minigames based on a theme with each one lasting less than ten seconds (or more) each and the player is given four lives. As the scenario progresses, minigames start to go faster and eventually the player is then given the boss minigame which has no time limit or speed difference, but must be completed to conclude the scenario. All character campaigns are split into different leagues. One league has the player mash the A and D-Pad buttons when needed. Another league requires the player to tilt the 3DS/2DS from side to side with occasionaly tapping the A button. The third league uses the touch screen and a final league has all of those combined with an additional control scheme that requires the mic as well as minigames that are less than 5 seconds. As well as all of that, the game also has challenges as well as a lot of unlockables that can be anything from Nintendo trivia to new minigames and more. All the minigames featured come from Inc.: Mega Microgames, Twisted!, Touched!, Smooth Moves, D.I.Y. and Game & Wario as well as some new ones made for this game but all remastered with upgraded visuals and control schemes.

Despite the story's short length, this is a very fun game. Its got over 300 minigames and plays out like a cartoon just like the rest of the series. For the first game of the series to feature full voice acting, everyone seems to have a voice fit for them with the addition of some humor where necessary which is good. Its also not without its many unlockables which tend to always go down well with completionists so you should manage just fine. A good way to celebrate the series and I hope they make a home console version too for the multiplayer side of things. 7/10
