Random Video Game Review - Jurassic World Evolution

So when the first film came out (by first I mean Jurassic Park and not Jurassic World), I guess one dream that many fans had was to fulfil the dream that one John Hammond wanted to come true which was to create a theme park of sorts with real living dinosaurs. But I guess when you begin to watch the rest of the films, we soon start to realise how bad of an idea like this is. All it takes is one little problem and then everything goes downhill. But anyway so the people behind Planet Coaster Frontier Developments managed to create a game that would allow players to create their very own Jurassic Park and they did this because of their interest in making a dinosaur game and because Universal (who distribute all the films and other media unless licensed out to other companies) wanting a companion game for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom to be released alongside the film. So it worked both ways with Frontier making their dinosaur game and Universal getting their companion game to the film. But the question is will it fulfil the dream everyone has to a good standard or is it a dream that should just remain a dream? Let's find out:

So building upon all or most of the elements it takes to make a theme park simulation game, it basically works just like that. You are given the task to create your own Jurassic Park with rides, attractions, dinosaurs, entertainment and the like. In accordance with the films, players are first tasked with building a Expedition centre in their parks in order for palaeontologists to explore the world to find DNA content which of course they would then use to create the dinosaurs and thus make the park what it is. Over time you can breed and incubate more dinosaurs and evolve them too. All dinosaurs must be fed just like when animals are fed in zoos as well as be put in suitable environments. Failure or success in doing those things will affect their overall behaviours. That is the main gameplay aspect, but otherwise it plays out much like any other theme park simulation game where its all about keeping everyone happy, making money and of course, showing off the dinosaurs. There is a Career mode in which players can begin creating their own Jurassic Park with limited funds and a wide array of contracts to take on. Then there is sandbox mode where everything unlocked in career mode can be used in this mode with complete freedom over funding, weather and everything in between. And at the time of this review, there is also a challenge mode that depending on the difficulty chosen will challenge the players in great lengths.

So I think where it stands in the visual side of things is that all the dinosaurs are well detailed to fit their film and real life counterparts which is great and gives the game a bit more realism to contend with. The acting of returning and new actors from the franchise is although limited, generally pretty good and gives the game some narrative alongside the contracts if any. With the exception of bringing dinosaurs into the park, the simulation does feel much like every other theme park simulation game with the dinosaur part being the only innovative thing about it. But aside from that, it does let you see things from both an overhead and a third person perspective and it is very relaxing and once your head is wrapped around how it works, it can be fun too. So overall another great game by Frontier and a good one that takes full advantage of the license it had been given. 9/10
