TV Season Review - Iron Fist (Season 2)

So after one season which was a case of fans liking it and critics hating it, Marvel decided to go ahead and make another season of Iron Fist for Netflix. Now because the Marvel shows on Netflix are set in the Cinematic Universe, I do have to wonder if what Thanos did in Infinity War had an impact on the TV shows. It's seemingly the case with Agents of SHIELD and yet for all the others, everything else seems to be the same as it was. Now of course we all know that showrunners and filmmakers for the Cinematic Universe (and maybe some comic book writers too) tend to ignore each other and its why things are inconsistent and the way they are. So going back to Iron Fist we have a new season which I hope is a lot better than the slow paced daddy issues filled first season. So let's take a look:

Following Daredevil's "apparent death", Danny Rand (reprised by Finn Jones, no relation) rises up to become a protector for New York. He finds himself caught in the middle of a triad war between the Golden Tigers (who run a protection racket to shake down local businesses) and the Hatchets (who control the docks) who both aim to fill the vacuum left by the now disbanded Hand. Meanwhile Joy (reprised by Jessica Stroup) secretly teams up with Davos (reprised by Sacha Dhawan) in an attempt to get rid of Danny as revenge for killing her father again. All while Ward (reprised by Tom Pelphery) begins a romantic relationship with his sponsor while tensions between him and Danny have seemingly disappeared. Colleen (reprised by Jessica Henwick) meanwhile finds a box at a community centre she volunteers at and vows to find the owner with some help.

I will be honest and say that this is a much better season than the first. Pacing is still a bit off, but the story ends up being interesting and characters get developed greatly with one in particular taking on a new role that could very well put the future of the show into question. The action packed moments are great and the universe building while on a small scale is good too. A much improved season overall, but could be better. 8/10
