Tribute to Stan Lee

Originally I was going to do a review of Daredevil season 3, but following the news of Marvel legend Stan Lee having passed away, I decided to do a tribute to the guy instead.

So to start with, ever since I watched the first Avengers film, I'm now more into Marvel than I would've been this time several years ago. Most of that is thanks to the many creations that Stan Lee (alongside Jack Kirby) has made and Marvel would not be where it is without him. Believe it or not, there was a time where Marvel were not doing so well and its thanks to this beloved man that they are now a major player in the comicbook industry.

Most of you may know that he created (alongside Jack Kirby) a number of characters that would later become major characters in almost all areas of Marvel. These characters included The Amazing Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four and various members of The Avengers, the X-Men, The Defenders, The Guardians of the Galaxy and the Inhumans.

He even did some work with DC as well, but that was mainly just us seeing DC characters in the way Stan Lee would see them and most of them were more weird than others. But yes although he was a major figurehead for Marvel, DC had him do stuff as well. Just on a much smaller scale.

Although the concept of a shared universe had been used before, Stan Lee made the concept popular and thus many if not all of the Marvel characters out there would come together and share one universe where a whole host of events can occur. Events such as the formation of the Avengers, the Civil, Infinity and Secret Wars and those times where Deadpool would screw everyone over for the sake of dark comedy if nothing else. There was even a version of Stan and Jack that existed in that very same universe.

So then there's the films and TV shows of which there were plenty. Some of the much earlier ones are best forgotten about considering the success some of those properties have had through the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Sony and Fox Marvel Universes. But if there was one thing all these things had in common was that it made Stan Lee the king of cameos. While not actually appearing in every Marvel thing that ever existed, the fact that he appeared in a number of these films, TV shows, cartoons and video games speaks volumes.

So after 95 years, its safe to say that Stan the Man has had quite a good life. He will have left a large legacy behind which I hope the good people at Marvel take into account. I also heard of his personal problems with some abuse from people wanting to take advantage of the position he was in and I hope those people get what's coming to them because its not right at all.

But anyway, you were a legend Stan Lee. You will be missed greatly and Marvel won't be the same without you. Rest in Peace. And I hope and look forward to seeing your final cameos in Ralph Breaks the Internet, Captain Marvel and of course Avengers 4.

Nuff said.
