Don't you just hate it when the developers call a game the second game even though its not? I find it both confusing and annoying, but wonder what goes into their thinking of that. So since the last game, IO Interactive have parted ways from Square Enix and have now become an independent developer though working with WB Games to help publish their future games particularly the Hitman series. The last game helped reinvent the series in quite a dramatic way and now we get the latest game. So let's see how many times Agent 47 (reprised by David Bateson) can sneak, kill and get captured:
So much like the previous game, gamers get to take Agent 47 through a series of missions each with a fully explorable sandbox environment with a variety of ways to go about killing the target and achieving any other objective. The story as you can imagine is set after the last game (though anyone who bought certain editions of it will also get the first game in its entirety via DLC with new gameplay features seen in this game) in which 47 is on the hunt for a so called "Shadow Client" and upon doing a successful mission, the contractors Provedience authorise him and his company the ICA to hunt down the rest of the Shadow Client's militia. In doing so, 47's untold past is revealed. Unlike the last game, all the missions are available right of the bat, but the game recommends that the gamer goes through each mission in order before attempting any further ones. The game also introduces concussive gadgets as well as the ability to conceal weapons via a briefcase which has been seen in the games before but not been seen for a very long time. And there is a co-op multiplayer mode called Sniper Assassin in which players can take part in timed challenges that require the use of a sniper, but not necessarily playing as 47.
So first of all, I think its great that gamers get to play the last game through this game as it saves them money and gives players the chance to enjoy the first game with improvements and elements from this game. Apart from that, this is a good game that brings all the best bits from the last game and improves upon them. Lots of great scenarios to take on, graphics look great as always and by far the best thing is that we can actually play all aspects of it without the need for waiting for levels to become available. However it still requires us to be online in order to play it which can be a problem for some and it is with some minor glitches and performance issues. But other than that, its an improvement over the last game and I look forward to seeing where the franchise goes in the future. 9/10
