AC4: Random Movie Review - Teen Titans Go! to the Movies

Well I guess it was going to happen at some stage and I'm pretty gutted and annoyed like many of you that the Teen Titans film ended up using the new show over the better and more popular old show. But that being said given where things have gone with the superhero genre in recent years, DC really do need some palette cleansers in between many of their more serious films even if its just a comedy that pokes fun at them as well as the genre overall. So yeah not happy that Teen Titans Go! got a feature film released in theaters and not Teen Titans, but I'm among the handful that's actually OK with that. 2018 has been quite a depressing year for superhero films with many of them have a reoccurring theme of death and so therefore, its these kinds of films that fans need to help them get over the death of their favorite Guardian, Avenger, Merc with a Mouth and Man of Steel. Whether they actually ask for it or not is another matter. But despite all the negativity that this film brings, I feel its only right to actually check it out and see if its is in fact a good film or not:

This version of the Teen Titans live in a sort of DC universe where heroes are treated like celebrities and have films of theirs released non-stop. With none of them having their own films or a film with them together so far, Robin (reprised by Scott Menville from the cartoon) goes about trying to get him and his team their own film following a roast from the Justice League and embarrassment over a film premiere not being his own film. But in order to do so, they need their own arch nemesis and when that fails, they are then left with changing the world so that they are the only superheroes. What follows is a series of musical numbers, shenanigans and what is traditionally the lowest form of humor; toilet humor all for the sake of getting their own movie despite being in one anyway.

So the film has been praised for being good from the critics and to fans, it can be seen as an OK film. It can be very cringey and cheesy especially in the musical numbers. But the animation is as colourful as it can get even changing at times in various segments. And it manages to greatly roast not only DC and the superhero genre in general, but also Marvel (even having Stan Lee's only cameo in a DC film), Warner Brothers, Back to the Future and breaking the fourth wall which even makes them use a few notable things often seen in many films but never really drawn attention to like morals and such. Its debatable among fans as to whether it can be seen as good or not, but what you have to understand is that its a superhero film that shouldn't be taken too seriously and its just there if anyone is just wanting a good time and a laugh more than anything else even if you don't like or not too keen on DC anyway. 8/10
