AC5: Movie Series Review - A Christmas Prince

So normally I tend to not watch many romantic comedies on the basis that many of them are just not very good. However that being said, there are a few good ones out there and some if done right can be less cringy or cheesy than what it normally is. Today we're going to look at two Netflix films both of which have a lot of similarities to Disney's The Princess Diaries. For starters they are both about shenanigans in a fictional royal family who rule over a fictional land. But in a way, its a gender swap in that we get a prince this time instead of a princess and its not all about him. So let's see if these two Netflix films are good enough as romcoms:

A Christmas Prince
The film begins with us meeting an aspiring New York based journalist named Amber (played by Rose McIver) who is sent to the foreign but fictional nation of Aldovia to cover a press conference on the soon to be king Richard (played by Ben Lamb) following the passing of his father. However when the press conference ends up being a disappointment, Amber decides to snoop around the palace to discover more about this prince. But when she is found out and is mistaken for being a tutor to one of the royal family, she uses this opportunity to find out the truth though she may be getting more than what she bargained for. The film is OK. Its not anything new or special its just ok. A bit cheesy from time to time and does as I said bear some similarities to The Princess Diaries, but its one of those romcoms that isn't too bad and doesn't frustrate the mind so to speak of the viewer. I'm sure romcom fans may get more of a kick out of it, but for me I will give it a 7/10

The Royal Wedding
Picking up from the ending of the last film, Amber and Richard are getting married. But in the midst of Aldovia's financial troubles as well as a protocol for royal weddings, it looks like these two have their hands full. But at least this time is more light heartened I guess? Yeah there's not really much to say about this film other than that. That is pretty much what the story of this film is. This film is also ok with nothing that can really annoy many people. But the more I watch it, the more I feel like its too similar to the second Princess Diaries film as far as being rebellious is concerned. But there are a few fun scenes to be had as well as making use of characters that were bearly used in the last film aside from an apperance if nothing else. 7/10

Both films are ok. They deserve at least one sit through and romcom fans can definitely get a kick out of it. But as for the rest of us, its really up to you. 7/10
