Random Movie Review - Cars 3

So whenever we talk about Pixar's greatest films, most of us would say Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Up, Ratatouille and many, many others. Because of how successful they were, it may have been seen in the early days as a kick in the face to Disney given how most of their own films post-Disney Renascence were just not that great (with some exceptions of course). But as with most studios, they too have had some pretty bad and OK films as well. Now with the Cars franchise, I personally felt that it was a step back from what we got in The Incredibles as far as human characters are concerned which was my feeling with the first film as well as the only good thing being the actual races. Then for the second film, I think it should have never been made and instead Pixar should have just done a spy film with human characters instead. And I haven't seen the Planes films yet and probably never will. Which brings us to the third Cars film in a franchise that no one except Disney and Pixar really wanted and should have just been the one film. But I may feel different after today's review. Let's start our engines for what I can only hope is the last ever film of the franchise:

So this film is a standalone sequel which I guess means that it cancels out the second film entirely which may be a sign of relief for some of us. So Lightning McQueen (reprised by frat pack member, Owen Wilson) and some other veteran racers continue to compete in winning things like the Piston Cup and other events like cars do while each having their own little rivalry. But a new generation of racers seemingly led by the arrogant Jackson Storm (voiced by Armie Hammer or the Lone Ranger if you prefer) manage to put many of the veterans out of action and forced to retire. McQueen however remains determined to beat him, but eventually he too is forced out of big racing events following a near fatal accident. Four months go by and McQueen decides its time to train in order to keep going in the races and goes on a journey to learn how to beat the likes of Jackson Storm and possibly may go from being the student to being the teacher.

In almost every way, this should have been the Cars 2 that we should have got. Its the most mature of the three films as it shows the transition McQueen has from being a racer to possibly the next best thing for him. Plus many absent characters from the first film return in this one and despite his voice actor not being around anymore, there's plenty of Doc Hudson that's shown here which kind of helps in the development of the main characters. So yeah its possibly the best film of the series, but only a certain audience may enjoy it more than the rest of us. 8/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
