Movie Review - It Chapter Two

So anyone who has read the book or seen the miniseries will notice how the first film only showed the Losers as kids. So of course this no doubt meant that there would be a second film on the way that would cover the part of the Losers as adults and sure enough, that's what we got. I enjoyed the first film as well as the miniseries and I even did an Old and New review to compare the two. Its the sequel to the film that put a lot of clowns out of business so let's get to it:

Set in the worst year ever 2016 (with flashbacks to 1988), the Losers have all grown up and have left Derry, Maine to get on with their lives and their jobs. Well except for Mike (played and reprised by Isaiah Mustafa and Chosen Jacobs respectively) who stays to learn about It and how to kill the creature. But upon coming across the scene of a murder that turns out to be the doing of Pennywise (reprised by Bill SkarsgĂ„rd), he calls up the rest of the Losers and asks them to come home to fulfil the promise they made all those years ago and finally be rid of the clown that feeds on fears.

Although definitely a horror first and foremost, there seems to be more laughable moments this time which is OK for some given that some of the actors this time around are more well known for their comedy than anything else. Its not as scary as the first, but it still manages to put in some clever jumpscares (even though a few are kind of predictable) and be as faithful to the source material just like the first. It has a lot of great visuals as well and even uses the CGI well enough to make it not cheap which is good. Also Stephen King has a cameo which to me at least, means that he gave both films his approval which is also great. So overall a good horror film that's bigger than the first, but not necessarily scarier and has a good cast. 8/10
