Random Movie Review - Wonder Woman: Bloodlines

The last DC Animated Movie Universe film before the finale that is Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. So we've had plenty of films now that feature the Trinity. For those of you who don't know, the Trinity are a trio of DC heroes that are often seen as the leaders of mainly the Justice League as well as any large group of heroes when a crisis event takes place. The Trinity consists of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman whom as we all know are often the main founding members of most incarnations of the team. While Batman and Superman have had plenty of films (some of which have been considered the worst films ever made, but most are generally good), at the time of this post, Wonder Woman has only had three films and a live action TV series from a few decades ago. My guess is that up until her solo film came out in 2017, DC and Warner Brothers were not too keen on a female led superhero film. But they did it and it did really well and basically changed history in a way that now studios want to do more female led stuff. So now we have another Wonder Woman film so let's get to it:

We begin the film with the origins of the titular heroine (reprised by Rosario Dawson, now a Marvel and DC veteran) but with the twist of it being in 2014 rather than back in the world war days (funny how so many things that occurred in 2014 have an impact in later events). She rescues Steve Trevor (voiced by Jeffery Donovan) and decides to take him back to man's world despite opposition from her heartbroken mother Hippolyta (voiced by Cree Summer) who disowns her. As she goes into man's world, Diana chooses to protect it as Wonder Woman. Five years then pass and Wonder Woman along with Steve Trevor learn of a group that calls themselves Villainy Inc. and agree to work together to stop their plans which leads into a former ally becoming an enemy and a dangerous mythological creature being unleashed onto Paradise Island among other things.

Some people tend to not like it when you hear the origin story all over again and this now being the third Wonder Woman film, DC are kind of pushing their luck with doing yet another take on it. However, it merely serves more as a prologue than the actual main story which I think is a good thing. Other than that, the film is good. Definitely more in line with the New 52 origin story which is what this cinematic universe has been based on and yeah it's a good one. Be interested to see how it all ends with the final film not too far away now from release. 9/10
