Random Video Game Review - Disneyland Adventures

There was a time when we could all go to different places and events in large groups. But everything changed when the coronavirus invaded the planet. Now we all know that it may be temporary and I have hope that it is. But until its safe for people to start going back to how things were, we have got some video games that remind us of those good times and this is one of them. Now in my lifetime, I have been fortunate to have gone to not one but two different Disney theme parks. The first one was the original California park as it was the first ever Disney theme park of its kind. The second one was the Paris park which at the time had just opened a new area with a studio theme to it. But I didn't know that this game existed. The idea of being able to visit a virtual Disneyland seems to be a great idea because many of us are not able to go due to the many costs which in my case also includes travel as the UK hasn't got a Disney theme park, but interestingly we were considered until they settled in Paris. Originally a game that used the Kinect, Disneyland Adventures has since been updated and ported over to the Xbox One and PC minus the Kinect and it looks like good fun. So let's grab our autograph books and enter the so called "happiest place on Earth":

So unlike most other theme park games, Disneyland Adventures already has the park built up which players can explore at their own pace. Guided by an anthropomorphic golden ticket, there is lots to do soon after making your own character. As it is a co-op game, players can play with a friend or by themselves because we can. There is a large amount of characters to interact with, rides to enjoy (though most will have mini campaigns that players can take part in), photos to take and lots of things to spend in game currency on. The park itself is based on the California Disneyland in its 2011 form, but most of its rides and attractions exist in other Disney theme parks not just in America but in other parts of the world too. Most characters will have some quests and items for the players to try out.

Well it does do what the title says. It gives us a fully explorable Disney theme park which is quite accurate to the park its based on minus the many queues and that the characters look like the characters and not someone dressed up as them. Of course there has been a lot that was omitted from the game including any rides, attractions or characters coming from LucasFilm who were not part of Disney when the game originally came out. As well as Roger Rabbit due to the co-ownership between Disney and Amblin Entertainment and Tarzan because of licensing issues. Also, surprisingly despite Jack Sparrow appearing in the Disney Infinity games, he too is omitted from this game. Of course, I would expect some of these things to be included in the game's remaster, but for unknown reasons, that didn't happen. Not to also mention that many of the new stuff is also not included in the remaster. But other than that, it's a good game that gives those of us with money problems the chance to enjoy the "happiest place on Earth" albeit in a more digital form. Though some technical issues are present in the remaster, but I have been fortunate to not have said issues in my copy. 8/10
