Random TV Show Review - Deadly Class

We return now to the world of SYFY. A channel known largely for its pop culture content, but seems to have a problem of keeping its shows going for more than one season. That's not to say that they handle things badly, but some of these shows as I may have said before are excellent and should continue. So today we are looking at Deadly Class. A series that has the Russo Brothers as executive producers and one based on a comic book series which is seemingly a coming of age story, but with a dark and somewhat disturbing twist. Though this should come as no surprise considering the title of it. So let's see how deadly this ten episode series really is:

It's the dark heightened world of the late 80s and a teen called Marcus (played by Benjamin Wadsworth) has been recruited into an elite private school known as King's Dominion. A place where the world's top crime families send their next generations. There he must navigate through the ruthless curriculum, vicious social interactions as well as his own uncertainties while maintaining his moral compass. What follows is a series of events that tie closely to actual real schools, but not quite the same.

The problem that this series has is that it's trying to do what Riverdale and other spooky teen shows have done so well at. Plus with the Russo Brothers busy working on the last two Avengers films at the time, some of their focus on this series was lost. So overall it's not a brilliant or groundbreaking teen series like Riverdale has been. But its got a good cast, good visuals and great fighting sequences so at least it has those things going for it. So probably just as well that this only become one series. 7/10
