Random Video Game Review - Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled

Mario Kart came first and then everyone wanted a piece of that action. Disney, F1, LEGO and some many other franchises. Mario Kart basically created the go-kart sub-genre in racing and while it still remains the king of the sub-genre, there have been a few games that have come close to replicating its success while trying its own thing. One of those games just so happened to star the former PlayStation mascot Crash Bandicoot. Now I personally have only played a bit of the original game via emulation a few years ago (something of which is not illegal if you actually bought the game, but is so if downloaded from a website for free though most tend to get away with it) and so I can't really review it properly. But I know that it had a great impact. So when Activison found success in their Crash Bandicoot remake compilation, they decided to create another remake in the form of Crash Team Racing after they finished the Spyro remake compilation. Some of us wonder if the franchise itself was worth reviving and to be honest, I'd say so. So let's race:

The character roster consists of a lot of characters from the Crash Bandicoot franchise as well as some guests from Spyro which Activison also own these days. Like Mario Kart, there are lots of tracks to try. Each having its own route, obstacles and means for racers to navigate in order to rise in the rankings. Powerups are of course a staple in this sub-genre, and we get some here too. Unlike Mario Kart however, the game has its own adventure mode which includes a series of races to do, bosses to fight and plenty to unlock as time goes on. There are a variety of karts to choose from and mix 'n' match. And lots of other great things too.

This game is alright. Its almost like every other go-kart game like it, but has the advantage of including lots of modes, racetracks and even an adventure mode in which the difficulty has a much bigger impact than other games like it. My only criticism which is also everyone else's criticism is the micro transactions. Lots of franchises do this now as a means to get more money and I felt that as this is a family game, it just doesn't feel right. Especially as this isn't one of those "free to play" mobile games. They just have no place in console and PC based games, but they are here if people want to pay to get things rather than allow progression to do the job. But aside from that, it's a good game that fans of the series will enjoy perhaps more so than the original game for what it was. 7/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
