Random TV Season Review - Blood of Zeus

For over a century now, there have been multiple adaptations of various stories, historical events and more and when it comes to Greek mythology, there has been plenty of that too. The last time I saw or played something to do with that was in the game Assassin's Creed: Odyssey which for the most part, had a few things to do with Greek mythology and because it was set before Origins, it meant the franchise can do something different without being restricted to the usual tropes that the series is known for. So now we come to the latest adaptation which is an anime series created by the people behind the Castlevania anime. Both of which are Netflix exclusives. So with a promise of horror and a unique but exciting take on Greek mythology, let's dive in:

The first series (though if renewed it may become the overall story) tells us the story of Heron (voiced by Derek Phillips) who is the demigod son of Zeus (voiced by DC Animated Movie Universe Batman, Jason O'Mara). He goes on a mission to save Olympus and Earth from certain doom at the hands of sinister forces while dealing with the hatred his neighbours have for his mother due to them believing that she is a demon.

While the animation is a bit slow at times and the story is more original than canon to actual Greek mythology, this is a great series. Full of blood, gore, horror moments and lots of exciting battles plus some eye candy for people as well. Its perhaps one of the better adaptations of this sort of thing and feels more like how it went down than most despite being original or rather a tale lost to history as the series explains. So yeah give it a watch if you need something exciting in these challenging times. 9/10
