AC12: Random Movie Review - The Christmas Chronicles 2

It feels like only yesterday that I last saw The Christmas Chronicles, but in reality it's been a couple of years. I liked the first one a lot and really enjoyed seeing Kurt Russell take the helm of being Santa. So here we are a couple of years later, and we get a sequel. Now for those of us who watch films all the way through, we often find hints that there will be another film particularly towards the end of them. But then some things get in the way like rewrites and how the film played out at the box office which put any kind of ideas for the next film into the danger zone. A place where the future is uncertain. Most of us are still wanting that Dredd sequel, but it never happened (yet that is) and some of us just want to know if DC will give us those films about Deathstroke and Lex Luthor that the original cut of Justice League promised us at the end (or more accurately the Whedon cut). But this being Netflix, they have money to spare so the sequel we were promised is what we got. So let's see how this one plays out:

Set two years after the last film, a now teenage Katie Pierce (reprised by Darby Camp) is quite unhappy with being in Mexico for Christmas and even more so because of her mum's new boyfriend (played by Tyrese "Earn that paycheck" Gibson) who she isn't too keen on. Desperate to return home, she attempts to take a flight to Boston and somehow winds up in the North Pole with the boyfriend's own son Jack (played by Jahzir Bruno). Santa (reprised by Kurt Russell) finds them and takes them into his house and stay in his village for a little while. There they learn about how he works, what Mrs. Claus (played by Russell's girlfriend and once co-star, Goldie Hawn) gets up to and learn of the elves' origins. But its not long before chaos takes over at the hands of a former elf (played by Deadpool 2's very own Julian Dennison).

While lacking the magic that the original had, its good to see that the natural evolution would be to go to Santa's Village. Something of which is nothing new to any Christmas film, but the part to do with Turkey is in a way. Another good Christmas film that's alright for a sequel. Could be better, but its fine and well acted. 8/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
