AC8: Random TV Special Review - Alien Xmas

Some of you may assume that this is actually a film, but it's under an hour long and therefore counts as a Christmas special or even a short film. Today it's the former. We've heard lots of different Christmas stories over the years with many being newer adaptations of stories we've heard so many times before (particularly "A Christmas Carol") and others just trying new ideas to see if they work (some using old ideas, but bringing a fresh take on it all). But of all those stories and adaptations that I have seen, not once have aliens been involved (or they have and I forgot all about it). Until now in this Netflix special made by The Chiodo Brothers who specialize in stop motion even though the special also uses some CGI elements too. Also, with Jon Favreau on board, it's bound to be good (unless it's The Lion King remake which wasn't all that great). So let's see what this is about:

A long time ago, a group of aliens known as Klepts became too greedy and took all their home planet's resources until there was nothing left. A once colourful race of beings, they leave their home planet to travel the cosmos to steal whatever they so choose. They eventually arrive on Earth where they plan to steal their "stuff". With the plan being around dealing with Earth's gravity, X (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) is sent out to do the mission. One thing leads to another and before long, X learns about Christmas and that stealing may not be the best idea.

Another sweet, innocent and fun little special that shows that stop motion isn't dead yet and can work well with CGI. Its colourful, funny, acted out well and could arguably be seen as the sci-fi version of The Grinch in a way of course. 9/10
