Random Video Game Review - Devil Daggers

I've played many games where countless enemies come after you, and it's all about survival of the fittest. This game is like that too. Made by an indie developer, went through Steam Greenlight and is now on all known computers, but not game consoles. It's also on sale at the moment, so I thought to give it a go and see what happens. It's a tough one, but given the nature of it, that was bound to be expected. So let's do this:

So to begin with, this is a first-person shooter. Like I said, the goal is to defeat an onslaught of enemies and survive for as long as possible. You get thrown into an area cloaked in darkness and with all enemies, there are different types that all behave differently. As you may have guessed, the primary weapon is a dagger which the player character throws at enemies from their hands. Each enemy has red crystals inside which once collected, can be used for upgrades such as jumping, moving faster and throwing more than one dagger at any given time. The character dies upon falling off the edge of the platform or in close contact with an enemy. And because this is pure gold for YouTubers, there is a leaderboard and a timer that keeps count of how long your playthrough is. Most games like this expect you to stay where you are and move when you can. This game on the other hand, expects you to keep moving as the safe space slowly shrinks.

This game kind of plays homage in a way to games released in the 90s that were also shooters such as Doom and Quake. It's a good but challenging game with lots of potential to be a big hit on YouTube (though as it's been out for a while, it probably was a hit for a time). It's not easy to play a game where most of what you are doing is in almost complete darkness, but that just adds to the challenge I guess. 8/10
