Random Video Game Review - AER Memories of Old

 

Games like these are quite rare I find. Games that let you transform into anything you want. The Yoshi games did this quite well with the idea of transforming into a vehicle to get through certain obstacles and of course there's also Transformers too where every character can literally transform into a robot or again a vehicle. But with all of that, I don't think I have ever played a game where you can transform into an animal. I probably have played games like that, but I can't remember. So here we are with another game that uses this mechanic and looks interesting for sure. Let's go:

The game has us believe that the so-called gods of old have been forgotten and lost. This came from an event that shattered this world, leaving fragmented islands in the sky. This whole world that's full of endless skies, colourful settings and other wonderful things, is about to be consumed by darkness. The player character is therefore tasked with uncovering the secrets that the gods left in order to save this world before darkness takes over. So the transforming part is where you turn into a bird to get to each island. It's played out as an open world game full of secrets and puzzles to do.

The presentation alone is fantastic, as is the general style of gameplay. But the story is a bit predictable considering that so many other games about darkness taking over, have been made, and it always ends the same way. But that's OK because many of us are here to play a great game and this is pretty good for what it is. Hardly any enemies to fight as most of it is exploring and uncovering secrets, so consider this a game of relaxation and stress relief if nothing else. 8/10
