AC22: TV Season Review - Hawkeye (Season 1)

So usually I do TV shows on Tuesdays, but thought to change it round to accommodate the final episode of this series, which came out today. Now of all the Avengers we've seen in the MCU, Hawkeye seems to be the one that is considered the dark horse of the team. Not really had much in the way of character development, at least at first, but people still consider him a great character despite the only thing he is able to do is use a bow and arrow. So seeing as all the other founding members have had their own time to shine in their own films, now it's his turn. But instead of a film, he gets a series on Disney+. Not really sure if a series would've ever worked for Hawkeye (reprised by Jeremy Renner), but considering it's a 6 part series and is part of a collection of Disney+ Marvel shows that neither company were sure would ever be turned into films, it's the best we are going to get. So let's take a look:

Set after Endgame, it's Christmastime and Clint has been spending time in New York with his kids. Long time Hawkeye fan Kate Bishop (played by Hailee Steinfeld) becomes aware of some criminal activities and upon coming across Clint's Ronin suit, puts it on and attempts to take on one of Clint's enemies, the Tracksuit Mafia. Clint catches wind of this and has his children sent home, so he can help Kate become a great archer and hero like herself. In doing so, he learns about LARPing and comes across a few familiar friends and enemies. All for the sake of bringing an end to his other life in the years following the Blip and be home in time for Christmas.

I get it, some people are just not all that interested in some heroes and granted Hawkeye is a hero that, compared to the other Avengers, may not be up there as the high and mighty. But I actually really liked this show. It's the same formula as before, but with some great action sequences, humour and lots of fun in the wake of a few emotional things tied to Hawkeye's past. Surprised that not many of you are watching it, and you know it is going to be awhile before the next multiverse event in the MCU, so please give it a watch. You won't regret it, and it's only six episodes long. 9/10
