AC24: Random TV Special Review - A Muppet Christmas: Letters to Santa

For the last of the advent calendar posts this year, let's talk about that other Christmas thing the Muppets did. Yes you read right, there is more Muppet Christmas stuff out there besides A Muppets Christmas Carol. Most of that stuff is sadly not easy to find and watch. Probably because most of that stuff either didn't do well or some other reason. So this is what we got, a special that is very different to their Christmas film. But otherwise something fans may enjoy... or not. Let's take a look:

It's Christmas Eve in New York City and the Muppets queue up to post their letters to Santa at the post office. After causing some shenanigans there, they return to their apartment and Gonzo (portrayed by Dave Goelz) comes across three undelivered letters. Determined to get them sent to Santa on time, he alongside some of the main Muppets set off to the North Pole to do just that. Meeting a few famous faces along the way (as is traditional for all Muppet adventures and shows).

The special, while short, is pretty decent. The Muppets do what they do best, but the songs are probably among the few that you won't be hearing many people singing because well they are not really all that memorable, unlike say "Man or Muppet" or the opening to Muppet Treasure Island. The celebrities (all of which are actors) are pretty good in this, especially Uma Thurman and Nathan Lane. So yeah not one of the Muppets' finest works, but good that they tried to do another Christmas thing, even if it's not as impactful as the one they did years before this one. 7/10
