He was an underrated character in the Skywalker Saga, but now at long last he gets his own series. So as many of us would know just from watching the films alone, Boba Fett (reprised by Temuera Morrison who in this series makes his physical debut as the character in addition to doing the voice again) was around, but was often sidelined without much character development with his "demise" in Return of the Jedi not really sinking down well with many fans. So following the success of The Mandalorian, Jon Favreau decided to make a series about him set after season 2 of that show, with the idea being to address his lack of development as a character and to give him the much-needed recognition that he so desperately needed. This is going to be interested in seeing this former bounty hunter turn into an anti-hero of sorts. Let's take a look before we too get caught in the Sarlacc Pit:
Following from his appearance in The Mandalorian, Boba Fett takes control of Jabba's criminal empire with the help of Fennec Shand (reprised by Ming-Na Wen). As he assumes control, he goes about ensuring that all associated with Jabba on Tatooine know that he is in control and will control with respect. Flashbacks show us how he managed to escape the Sarlacc Pit after being eaten up in Return of the Jedi, and how he lost his armour. Plus, we also see how other characters are doing at this point of the timeline.
The show, for what it is, could never really take away the imagination fans have had for years about the character and his adventures. But with strong performances and plenty of things going on, it's kind of nice to finally have a show about everybody's favourite underrated bounty hunter. Even though as the series progressed, it became less about Boba Fett and more about everyone else. But it's OK and hopefully this will be the start of a whole array of things to do with the bounty hunter and the fans' need to have him be popular and not underrated. 8/10
