Random TV Miniseries Review - Ms. Marvel

So I guess for a while now, we've had films and TV shows from Marvel that are based on some of the more established heroes from the silver and golden age of comics. But now with the MCU, its finally time to bring in a much more recent character to the overly packed and now complicated cinematic universe. Now some of you who don't read comic books, will already know Ms. Marvel in the video games Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 and Marvel's Avengers. Particularly the latter, where she is front and centre of the whole story. Now we have a series with someone who is in every way what Ms. Marvel is meant to be and ignoring all the toxic fan responses, it's nice to have some culture into our cinematic universe with this one bringing Muslim into the mix. So let's take a look at the show that is setting up the upcoming film The Marvels:

In her struggles with growing up and life, Kamala Khan (played by Iman Vellani) wants to go to AvengerCon as a superfan of Captain Marvel. But despite best friend Bruno Carrelli (played by Matt Lintz) supporting her and helping her finish her cosplay outfit, her strict parents are against the idea. She goes anyway where one thing leads to another and after a fated accident with a thing she puts on her wrist, she gains superpowers. With these newfound powers, Khan sets out to become a hero like her idol. But this soon attracts unwanted attention, and she goes on a journey with her mum (played by Zenobia Shroff) to discover how she got her powers and all that. All while she goes about growing up and all that.

As far as coming-of-age shows go, this is pretty good. The style and visuals in parts remind me of The Mitchells VS the Machines which definitely got me hooked onto this show from the start. It's funny, action packed and very respectable of the Muslim religion and has great visuals. Especially with the title sequence and various scenes. 9/10
