Random TV Season Review - Star Trek: Discovery (Season 4)

It may not be as beloved as Star Wars and has had many misfires with episodes, films and more. But as I say for all long-running franchises, Star Trek has come a long way. It started out as a TV series on CBS which was followed by an animated series and, later on, a few feature films. Cut to the late 80s and suddenly Star Trek returns with a few new TV shows and more feature films to keep the franchise afloat. Then a long hiatus takes place starting in 2005 where the most we get from the franchise is a few films that are set in an alternative timeline from the main canon one. Finally, in 2017, Star Trek returns to the small screen with several new TV shows with a focus on stunning visuals and adapting more modern trends which in the case of Discovery, it includes diversity among the cast with a good mix of LGBTQ+ characters and people of a different race too. It's one of the great things about this show, which itself originally started out as a prequel to the original series, before going to the future and being set long after everything else in the franchise. So let's see what's going on in this fourth season:

Much of the fourth season is focused on Michael (reprised by Sonequa Martin-Green) and her crew helping to rebuild the United Federation of Planets, which had been dissolved upon their arrival into the future. While that is taking place, the Discovery crew also take on a space anomaly created by unknown beings which is causing destruction across the galaxy. All in an attempt to finally get humanity back into the Federation.

It's a good fourth season. It delves into more of the franchise's mythos and does well to be respectful of its diverse cast of characters. Very heartfelt and lots of great action sequences, makes this a fine fourth season that could've actually been the show's final season because it just feels like it wraps up everything at the end. But we do have a fifth season on the way, so who knows if this one will be the last one. Only time will tell, and it's great to finally be able to watch it on its permanent home Paramount+ rather than having to shuffle between streaming services as I had done before it finally launched in the UK. 9/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
