Random TV Season Review - Westworld (Season 4: The Choice)

Westworld has been a very interesting series since it first started. Although common characters and storylines and so forth are carried over in each season, each feels very different in a way to the last. I also heard that the show runners often find the way the show is done to be complicated, stressful and time-consuming. But despite all that, it still does well in giving us an idea of what our future could look like, whether it's us co-existing with "hosts" or something else. So here we are with the fourth season which as I watched, it kind of felt like this was the end. But nothing has been confirmed or denied at the time of typing this post up. So let's take a look:

The season is split into two parts. The first, set in a possible 2060, picks up where the third season left off seven years later, while the second half is set in a possible 2083. A host copy of William (reprised by Ed Harris) somehow manages to freeze the real William as he must decide if they are the same person, just as they try to level the playing field between hosts and humans. Meave (reprised by Thandiwe Newton) teams up with Bernard (reprised by Jeffrey Wright) when it becomes apparent that no matter what fate has in store for them, a tower must be taken down for them to find peace of a sort. The host, posing as Charlotte (reprised by Tessa Thompson), is against peace and instead seeks a way to evolve human and host kind which can lead to some disastrous results. While all this is happening, a being that looks like Dolores (reprised by Evan Rachel Wood), attempts to write a new storyline and a new world with the guiding voice and later appearance of Teddy (reprised by James Marsden). All this and more as the future of Earth comes to a head.

Yeah, even with me reviewing this, even I am struggling to figure it all out. But I guess that's what made the series so great in the first place. The complexity of things, the thought-provoking theories of fate and what is considered peace, and more. It's still a great series with all that, plus other moments where it shines. Who knows if this really is the end or if there is more to come. What we do know is that this could be our future whether we like it or not (but then again, anything could happen between now and then). 8/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2
