Movie Review - Black Adam

So this one has had many a delay and once again, Covid plays a part there. I mean since Shazam, we have had talks about a film such as this being made, and now we finally have it. At the time of writing this, Warner Brothers have made changes to their DC cinematic universe, with this film being the start of a new slate of films that should help shape the future of the all over the place franchise that it has ended up becoming. A few great films, a few in the middle films and quite a few not so good films. The direction has not been the best with leaders coming and going, but hopefully with James Gunn now at the helm and will hopefully stay there, things will get better. Anyway, let's talk about this film:

Many years ago, the Crown of Sabbac comes into existence with the power to give those that wear it, great power. In Kahndaq, a young slave boy (played by Jalon Christian) attempts to stage a revolt against the tyrannical king (played by Marwan Kenzari) and is granted the powers of Shazam to do just that. While much of that story is shrouded in mystery, Kahndaq in the present day is oppressed by the Intergang. The crown is found once again by an archaeologist called Adrianna Tomaz (played by Sarah Shahi) who is most wanted by the Intergang, but her team is saved by the arrival of a being called Teth-Adam (played by Dwayne Johnson) who struggles to adjust to the new world is in, but his violent actions attract the attention of the Justice Society who are sent by Amanda Waller (reprised by Viola Davis) to apprehend him. Though both, he and the team remain unaware of a much greater threat.

After seeing this film, I got a bit of a headache, which is quite rare for me. I guess with so much happening and a lot of complicated moments, it was bound to happen. It's not DC's most perfect film, but as far as DCEU films go, it's just OK. Popcorn film for sure and is very much your average Dwayne Johnson film with humor, action packed moments and some predictable things with confusing elements. If you like Black Adam as a character, then you may enjoy this. But if you are after something much greater, maybe stick to The Batman or any of the recent animated DC films 6/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
