Random TV Season Review - She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (Season 1)

The state of Disney at the moment is now very different than before Disney+. I say this because since the launch of the streaming platform that is quickly dominating that market, Star Wars is getting better and the animation side of things is still in top form. Disney's live action stuff is still not working too well, whereas Marvel are struggling. Though having said that, more and more people are starting to see that the formula they have used well in the majority of their films and TV shows, is now getting a bit too predictable. Probably other things too are not working, but it's mainly that. So we now come to this show, which feels like the first time we have had something to do solely with Hulk since The Incredible Hulk, but only as far as other "Hulk" like characters are concerned. Having not quite enjoyed Phase 4 as much as I really wanted to, my expectations on this were low and after watching it, it's fine. But far from being at the quality of the other shows like Moon Knight, Loki, Falcon and the Winter Solider and WandaVison to name a few. Still, though, at least minor events that were seen in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: No Way Home are explained in a way. So let's do this before someone smashes up the place:

The show is about Jennifer Walters (played by Tatiana Maslany) who, after a car crash with her cousin Bruce Banner (reprised by Mark Ruffalo), her body absorbs his Hulk blood to become what the press call She-Hulk. Balancing her new heroic role and her life as a lawyer proves to be a challenge, but she does her best as she represents Abomination (reprised by Tim Roth) and learns exactly why he got himself into a cage match. That and she also frequently breaks the fourth wall as people soon become divided on how she goes about life and more. Plus a familiar face, last seen in a Spider-Man film and was on Netflix for a while, makes an appearance in his kinda sort of rebooted form.

If you are after a show that's more of a feel good Marvel thing like the last two Thor films were meant to be, then you'll feel right at home here. But it is far from perfect with CGI that looks like it was made in the early 00s, some cheesy and corny jokes and the whole breaking the fourth wall issue which to be honest with you, is funny but doesn't feel needed. I mean, they have Deadpool now, so use him! 7/10
