Random Video Game Review - Disney Dreamlight Valley

So you are probably wondering why some of these posts, this week, have been delayed. Well you can blame this game which as far as life simulators go, it's actually not bad. Now, I should stress that this review is based on what the game is currently at. It's still very much in early access with plenty yet to come to it, and once the full release is out, I may amend this review. So I think the people at Gameloft decided to combine the likes of Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley and nearly every modern RPG system you can have, to create this. An interesting game for sure, so let's take a look:

Players play as this user created character who arrives to the titular valley and is tasked to save it. You do this by removing all the dark things such as dark thorns, mushrooms, beach rocks and ice (many of those things require certain conditions to be met). As well as this, you must also rebuild the valley to how you want it to look by recruiting numerous characters from across Disney and Pixar. Many of these characters already live in the valley (though some you may have to unlock new areas somehow to find them) while others must be found in realms that are tied to their films. As well as all of that, you get all the Animal Crossing kind of stuff like fishing, foraging, planting, mining digging and more. You can also make meals, craft stuff and of course, interact with the various Disney and Pixar characters who can all be levelled up in various ways, have a set of quests and it's not all good guys. A few villains are there too, all co-existing in harmony (to some degree).

This game, right from the get go, looks very promising. In its current state, there is lots to do and the variety of characters in the game so far, is a good mix of characters from the Disney Renascence, the CGI paintbrush era of Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar's greatest hits and of course Mickey Mouse and Friends (the majority of which are reprised by Disney voice veterans). Pretty good for an Early Access game, which I hope continues to get better over time. 8/10
