Random TV Season Review - American Horror Stories (Season 2)

Well its back. After a successful first season, the American Story franchise returns with another set of individual horror stories. This time around, a few more scary things such as technology, dolls, things you should not really say to people and more. It's come a long way since 2011 and has no signs of slowing down with the main show, the crime spin-off and this. Many of us love anthology shows. It's just a great thing to do where keeping continuity is not a major issue, as such. But having stories that have loose connections with each other whether it's the themes, the characters or even just a simple case of the same cast and crew. It all should work, and if it doesn't, then clearly you don't know what an anthology is. Anyway, let's take a look at this:

We have eight stories, each with their own horrors of sorts. One of which is connected to an American Horror Story series, and there's a lot. We have creepy dolls, the scary world of modern technology, club victims, 18th century diseases, nuns getting up to mischief, plastic surgery demons, people with a dark past of sorts, and you should really not dive into a river that has a history of being a watery grave for people.

American Horror Story is very much a big influence on this spin-off show, which does well to give us some very good stories with each episode. Sometimes it has callbacks to the main show, which is always welcome and given we don't know much about the next series of the main show, this is a good filler series. Not saying don't watch it when I say that, but it is something to at least enjoy while we wait for the main show's return. At least it keeps the formula fresh in places. 9/10
