Best of 2022 - Video Games

In year where E3 never happened (largely unheard of, but it happens), we had a lot of video games. Video games that most of us will only get to play when a sale happens given how expensive they are these days. But with more people now being able to access PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, the ninth generation of gaming is now well and trully in full swing. Even though there are already rumors that the big three are working on their next consoles already. From exploring a galaxy far far away in LEGO once again to enjoying a few remakes, it's been an interesting year. Particularly for Steam as we get more and more developers bringing games to that platform, including PlayStation and the return of Ubisoft. And obviously everyone else. So this list will be games released this year that I have played and enjoyed playing across the platforms I currently have. It may be a short list as I haven't played as many games released this year due to rising costs in my bills, but I hope its enough to tide you all over till the next major release. Not including any ports of already released games unless there is some significant change about it. But remakes will be counted as well as newly released games. Not bothering with DLC as I generally don't do those any more without good reason:
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
So the first game on this list, technically counts as a Remake of both The Complete Saga and The Force Awakens in that both games covered collectively episodes I-VII with additional content here and there. This game covers those ones, but also The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Thus giving us the true complete experience with the chance to play through almost an entire film instead of a set number of levels based on scenes of a film with a hub world. So following in thr footsteps of the latter game and its good. Very much a TT Lego game in all its glory with the added bonus of characters and levels from other Star Wars media too. Not to mention also the references to memes and the history of the Lego theme itself. Trully one for the fans.

Disney Dreamlight Valley
Its still in early access at the time of writing this, but it has already won people over. Its a fun life Simulator with Disney characters basically being your neighbours who all share memories of being in this valley before. But the memories of which are a bit fuzzy. It's fun, full of things to do that make it addictive and just a relaxed way to enjoy the already overcrowded world of Disney.

Nintendo Switch Sports

A Remake of that one Wii game we all know, wasn't something people wanted. Yet we got if on the Switch of all things and in addition to some returning sports, we get new ones such as volleyball. It's not a perfect game as such, but good fun for friends and family for sure.

So yeah like I said, not played as many newly released games as I have done previously, but these are still pretty good. Now let's remember those from the game industry that we lost this year:

Reiko Kodama - one of the people behind the Phantasy Star games

Bernie Stolar - former president of Sega of America

Stewart Gilray - The man who helped remaster the Oddworld games and other things too

Kim Jung-ju - the guy behind the very first MMO game

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
