Random Video Game Review - Marvel's Midnight Suns

I think it's safe to say that Marvel have tried to do well in video games, but not quite up to the standard of DC's library (at least not yet anyway). Both Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy both had technical problems, with the former also being quite disappointing for most. Whereas the latter just didn't have the most polished of combat systems. On the other hand, Sony's Spider-Man games have done extremely well, effectively becoming the equivalent of DC's Batman Arkham games by being a trully definitive Spider-Man experience with more sequels and spin-offs in the works. Which brings us to this game. The first Marvel game in a long time to feature a big roster of characters. The majority of which I would imagine, the rights of which finally being back at Marvel. Its a superhero team I am not too familiar with, but the members of which I am. So let's see what awaits us in this game:

In an attempt to conquer the world, HYDRA resurrects a being called Lilith (voiced by Jennifer Hale) and in the wake of an approaching Midnight Sun, Earth's magic is destabilized. The Avengers do what they can to save the world, but find themselves in need of some help from the titular team, and must resurrect Hunter (voiced by either Elizabeth Grullon or Matthew Mercer) in their attempts to save the world as they know it. Anyone familiar with RPGs that used a card based system to determine your next move, will feel right at home here, as every battle is basically that. With the addition of using the environment and a large roster of Marvel heroes including members of the X-Men, Avengers and the titular Midnight Suns. There is a hub world to explore between sets of battles and story, which you can upgrade, as well as being able to enhance and upgrade your Hunter character and everybody else.

While the game could have done with a few tweaks in the graphics department, it's pretty good. Nothing intentionally groundbreaking or innovative, but if you love Marvel and miss those old team up games, you'll enjoy this. Won't be for everyone though, but that's OK. 8/10
