Random TV Season Review - DC's Legends of Tomorrow (Season 7)

Another unfortunate, but also not too surprising Arrowverse show to be cancelled just short of its planned final season. I say not too surprising because as much as I enjoy time travelling shows, this one went from being a very good action packed show, to one that is clearly trying too hard with the humour and just generally not going anywhere. Don't get me wrong, the show has done well in areas such as the romantic side of it and also the amount of diversity in its cast. I do also love the characters as well. It's just unfortunate that it has gone as long as it did, and it may have been better if it ended much earlier. But we are where we are now with a show that has an unresolved ending. But as it's based on characters from DC Comics, chances are that we will get a continuation in comic book form if nothing else. I mean, that's where Smallville ended up, so yeah. Anyway, let's see what the Legends get up to in their once penultimate, but now final season:

The original Waverider is destroyed, which leaves the remaining Legends stranded in 1925 Texas. In the hopes to find a way home, they seek out a scientist called Gwyn Davies (played by Matt Ryan who previously played John Constantine) who is said to be the inventor of a form of time travel. Gideon (reprised by Amy Pemberton) is given a human form while the team set about finding a way home while dealing with a robotic variation of the team and an evil Gideon planted in a Waverider by a character called Bishop (played by Raffi Barsoumian) who initially isn't too keen on the Legends, but may have a change of heart over time.

It may not have been the final season we wanted considering how it was never destined to be such, but for what it is, it's just OK. Lots of forced humour and a few moments of actual character development, plus them being stuck largely in one time period, kind of makes this season pretty weak. Not bad by any means, but far from perfect. Maybe what was going to be the final season, may have actually been better. But hey ho, it is what it is. 6/10
