So this past week, Steam had their Spring Sale which I took part in buying games from. This game I already had from way back when, but never really played it till recently. An indie game that got published by Square Enix who we all know as the company known for a number of JRPGs and also bought out much of the franchises from Edios when they went bankrupt. Interestingly, they published the very first game of the Batman Arkham series which came at a time when Warner Brothers didn't really have much of a major publisher for video games besides being a licensor in direct opposition to Disney who were, for a while, the other way around. But enough about them, let's take a look at this game:
We are in Romania in a dystopic communist setting. You play as a machinist who must escape the dreary world he is in through by simply exploring the world and solving puzzles and going over platforms. The usual platforming abilities are there such as climbing, jumping and using objects to help with the puzzles and various situations he is presented in. With seemingly no end to the war imagery and propaganda that the game shows throughout.
This game feels awfully similar to another game I played a while back called Inside. Plus other games where it's a platform puzzle based game that is depressing and dreary. So in other words, it kind of fails to innovate, but what it does succeed in is trying to show that we should not live in a world where war is the only thing going on. Just doesn't feel right. 7/10
