Yeah, it's come to that time where either I'm watching through a popular series or there is just nothing good to watch at the moment. On this occasion, it's the former. Fortunately, Netflix is full of weird and wacky shows to watch, which I guess is kind of the only thing that's keeping it going now. With most of the major studios now having their own streaming platforms, Netflix is more reliant than ever on its original offerings and things it can stream from the people that don't have a streaming service yet. But on this occasion, we have a show that's actually in some areas, on Peacock which is Universal's one. Here in the UK however (where Peacock has soft launched itself onto Now, which is Sky's one), Netfilx has it. Not sure for how long, but let's take a look now while the night is young:
The show is centred on twin sisters who got separated at birth. The first called Mischa (voiced by Gigi Saul Guerrero) lives in the human world with her mum, while her twin sister Jessa (voiced by Larissa Dias) is a wolf-shifter that lives at Supernatural Academy with her father. Neither are aware of each other's existence with Mischa especially, not being aware of the supernatural in the world. But after having visions of supernatural beings, her suppressed powers awaken, prompting a reunion of sorts just as dark forces begin to threaten their world.
This series is good, but not brilliant. For starters, it clearly doesn't know which audience it wants, but just by looking at it, looks like animation for a typical show on a channel or service tailored to children. Really had to be careful with the wording there, given what's going on in the world of animation at the moment. But I like the concept, and it looks like it could lead into something great and definitely not be similar to the Twilight saga. But it's looking unlikely that this will have another season, but who knows. Maybe we will get another one later down the line. 7/10
