Random Video Game - Yes, Your Grace

With the king's coronation coming up, I felt it was appropriate to talk about a game about being a king and doing kingly stuff. I got this game I believe from a Humble Choice bundle some time ago (my memory isn't the greatest I will admit) and it's a pretty simple game once you get around some of the more complicated parts. Published by the people who published Not Tonight in response to Brexit, this could be interesting. Let's take a look:

The game is a management game all about ruling a kingdom, with the main focus being on the choices you make as king to help define you and your kingdom. Every day, you get visitors, each with their own requests to make, and it's up to you to manage your resources to fulfil people's wishes. Or just go against them when a more lucrative idea comes about. The game's story has you play as a king who is well into his monarchy, but has yet to father a son, which could lead into a succession crisis if he were to pass away. Matters are made worse when a neighbouring kingdom, threatens an invasion should the heir to that kingdom's throne, not marry one of your king's daughters. That and another, much bigger invasion means the king has a lot on his mind and must figure out a way forward, which is where you, the player, come in.

I'm one person that can have issues with things that are slow paced, but in this case, it works to the player's advantage. Having that extra time to prepare for things. I also like the graphics, which gives it a very retro 8 to 16-bit feel to it. It can be a little punishing to some, but not as punishing as the Dark Souls games. A good game overall if you fancy being a king of a struggling land. 8/10
