Random TV Season Review - Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of Macabre (Season 1)

Well, here we go again. A series that is an anthology series and, as always with these things, it's a collection of short films with some kind of connection to one another. In this case, all the shorts are produced by Japanese animation studio, Studio Deen, and it's all stories adapted from stories by horror manga artist Junji Ito. Who knows what awaits us in these collections, but I do find it wonderful to find these little hidden gems, and most of them are pretty good all things considered. So let's take a look:

So much like with the man's work, the stories are largely tied to horror with supernatural elements, bewitching moments and all sorts of other horror things that hopefully makes this series stand out above everyone else.

I like anthology collections if done right and this one, while not something I'm familiar with, is pretty good. Consistent animation throughout, great amount of horror and has a fun element to it too while being a little disgusting in places. Hope we get more seasons of this going forward, whether it be on Netflix or not. 9/10
