Team17 have done so much for gaming over the years, that it's pretty amazing that they still go today and are willing to take risks on things. Not so much like Devolver Digital, who happily publish anything weird and wacky looking. But when it comes to games set in a war like setting, Team17 and its developer, Black Matter, are not the people I would think would take a plunge into war games. But here we are with a game that had a successful Kickstarter campaign and is mostly OK in its own right. Let's go:
The game itself is a multiplayer game where it's a 50 VS 50 combined arms battle between two teams that could be anything like Americans, Germans or even Commonwealth forces. Within those teams of 50, you get a wide array of units to use in the two game modes that the game offers up. Both modes have a map that is divided into sectors, which each team must battle to take control of. Warfare mode is basically that with a timer, while Offensive is when a team has already taken over the whole map and the other team must take it all before the time runs out. Each unit must be led by a single officer who communicates with the commander and other officers via a voice channel or text chat (generally whichever you, the player, prefers to use). There is also a game within this game which is basically either mode, but you get to be in charge of more than just your single unit, but this does mean resources could very well be used up.
Overall, this is a pretty good game. It's main selling point is how you communicate across instructions and so forth. Pretty fun, exciting and while not entirely innovative (at least to me anyway), it quite literally unleashes hell upon you, so you do get your moneys worth there. 8/10
