Random Video Game Review - War Thunder

Time to go to war... again. Yeah, there are lots of games about war which may not always be the thing you'd want to escape to in gaming. But then again, shooting Nazis, zombies and other forms of bad guys may just be what you need after a long day at work or the like. So this game is a free-to-play one on pretty much every current platform, except for Nintendo (sorry Nintendo fans) which not only includes PC and game consoles, but also VR too. It was originally conceived as an April Fools' joke, but it's very much a real game that won several awards in its release year of 2013. So let's see if it's worth playing or not:

The game is focused on the idea of a combined assault on land, air and sea. Players are given a wide amount of things to use that include anything from World War I, up to the modern day. But with an emphasis on World War II, the Vietnam War and the Cold War. Each vehicle can be from any country across the world, including those associated with NATO and the EU. Three game modes exist which are arcade, simulated and realistic which are for those wanting to do multiplayer. But there is also a mode that let's single players play out historical battles and a mode for co-op where you're fighting AI controlled vehicles. As it is a free-to-play game, limited time events occur and joke modes come into play during the April Fools period, presumably as a nod to how the game was originally an April Fools' joke.

Overall, it's pretty good. If you like things with a bit of variety, then you'll have a good time here. However, it can be a bit overstuffed with things, which may not be a bad thing in the long run. But it's just a matter of if you have time for all that stuff. But regardless, it's pretty decent for what it is. Probably not a game I will be playing too often. But still good all the same. 8/10
