Random Video Game Review - Kraken Academy!!

With people going back to or starting school very soon, I felt it was time to check this game out. It came from July's Humble Choice bundle and has a retro feel to it while also being a little strange, weird and more. Published by Fellow Traveller, of whom I have played many games of, this looks to be another interesting game from their large library of games. Let's take a look:

Of course, by the name alone, it's no secret that Kraken Academy is no ordinary school with ghosts in the art department, cultists meeting at the monkey bars and crocodiles eating children for reasons we don't and may never know about. It's up to you, the main student protagonist, to join forces with a magical kraken and save the school (and also the world at large) from a devious being known only as the Traitor who could be anyone on campus. With a time limit to contend with here, you can manipulate time to work out everyone's routines and explore all areas of the campus. You can also team up with the janitor and bring down a crime syndicate. You get to join all the different clubs that the school has to offer and take part in the various activities that lurk within. Lots of people to mingle with in the game, too, but only one of them is the true villain that's causing all these terrible things to happen.

The game isn't terrible by any means, as it has a pretty good story and gameplay mechanics. But if you are expecting the next big innovative game to come out, this isn't it. It lacks any form of replayability even though its graphics are kind of like Stardew Valley which its contents may not amount to much, but is far more infinite compared to this. So take it for what it is, but don't expect this game to be anything but groundbreaking. Pretty funny in places though and has some quirks about it that may get you invested in it. 7/10
