So we're now in September and most of the releases that interested me, have been and gone. So taking a trip down memory lane to check this film out. It's a mix of Scottish and British talent and story with big names Rosamund Pike, David Tennant and Billy Connolly taking centre stage. Alongside the likes of Ben Miller (who of which I have met at a convention) and inspired by the BBC sitcom Outnumbered, but has no relation to said show. So let's see what this seemingly strange family got up to on their holiday:
Gordie McLeod (played by Connolly) is a man with terminal cancer and is approaching his 75th birthday. His richest son Gavin (played by Miller) plans a lavish party for him and invites a lot of people. Among those people are his brother Doug (played by Tennant) who reunites with his wife Abi (played by Pike) to go to the party with their children. However, when the "grown-ups" start arguing, Gordie goes on a trip out with the children, having no interest in the party. But he may not return and sets about wanting a warrior's funeral, which he tells the children about.
This film is good. It's full of wit, has a very good cast and has a lot of laughs which is balanced with some emotional and serious moments. Very Scottish and British all around. 9/10
