Random TV Season Review - Ragnarok (Season 3)

So, the show that gives us a more serious take on all things Norse mythology and throws in a present day world, now has its third and final season. It's certainly been an interesting show that makes out to be a more serious take on Thor and the Norse gods compared to Marvel's take which at first, was serious with a few jokes put in and nowadays, more "trying to be funny" than be serious with the idea being that you just have a good time with it and not take it too seriously. Then there's God of War and its sequel God of War: Ragnarök, which give us a video game take on it while adding some Greek gods for good measure. In other words, we have options, and now it's time to see how this series ends. Let's go:

The battle between giants and gods, is back on as Magne (reprised by David Stakston) struggles to figure out the difference between friend or foe as he becomes too attached to his hammer which he calls the Mjölnir. The Jutuls try to manipulate him in an attempt to destroy him once and for all, but questions are soon raised about whether war is what they want or if a peace of sorts can be reached. Either way, graduation is fast approaching for these youngsters, and soon they must begin adulthood whatever the outcome.

The show has been consistently good up until this point, but I kind of feel the final episode is messy. It after the outcome of the battle in the penultimate episode, I feel it should have ended there. But what we get in the actual final episode, is resolutions for everyone, sure. But then this very confusing bit where Magne is reading a Thor comic book and imagining all the people that are reincarnations of the Norse gods, in a battle while at the same time, he's graduating. It felt unnecessary and makes very little sense as it actually all in his head. But apart from that, it's another solid season that makes us question if any of us could be reincarnations of the old gods. We probably aren't, but you never know. 8/10
