Random Video Game Review - Metal Hellsinger

Those of you who are as old as me or have been around since the 90s and 00s, may remember a rhythm video game series known as Guitar Hero of which I may have reviewed on here at one point. It had several video games that all use different peripherals such as controllers designed to look and play like instruments and a microphone too. It had spin-off titles like Band Hero and DJ Hero and even a competitor called Rock Band which itself had many games. Since those days, I've not really touched many rhythm games and whenever one is announced, I never get around to playing it for reasons. But fortunately in the last Humble Choice bundle, this came with it and I can now at long last play one of those rhythm games with a fantasy feel to them. Let's see what awaits us in this one:

The game has you play as a voiceless devil looking being known simply as "The Unknown" who seeks to regain her voice in Hell of all places. Fighting an array of bad guys, monsters, demons and the like to do just that. Much of the gameplay is a mix of first-person shooters and rhythm games, with drawing heavy references from the rebooted Doom series of games. As you fight demons with an array of powers and weapons, extra damage is dealt if you manage to attack to the rhythm of the game's metal score. You also have a meter which increases every time you do that, as well as other abilities too, that may be of use. You must navigate through up to 9 layers of hell, all leading to a boss battle at the end of it all.

With an epic metal score that the likes of Disturbed, Gorillaz, Muse and Paramore contributed too, this is a game where the mission feels ever so personal as like a personal vendetta and I like it. It's definitely epic, makes you want to dance to the beat and fans of these kinds of games, are known metalheads, so you will all feel right at home here. Good fun all around, unless you are a person that doesn't like things associated with Satan and all that. 8/10
