Random Video Game Review - Slap City

There have been so many copycats of Super Smash Brothers that I'm kind of amazed that I have finally found a game of that genre of fighting games where I haven't got a clue who the characters are and if they belong to different franchises or not. It was part of this year's Jingle Jam bundle, which Yogscast do annually to raise money for various charities and yeah, I can't get over how similar it is to Super Smash Brothers. Created by the people who made the Nickelodeon version of Super Smash Brothers, this is pretty much a game featuring characters from across the company's other games. The company in question being known as Ludosity who are known on Steam for making "kick ass" games. Well, let's see how this game fares:

So like Smash Brothers, the game is primarily a platforming fighting game that can be played online or locally with modes such as Ranked and Slap Ball. While it has a lot of fighting modes, there are a few that let you just play the game without much or any fighting, which include a story mode for each character and the Slap Ball mode as previously mentioned. Each character has its own play style that is said to be unique and innovative, and the game's biggest selling point is what they call Clutch Technology, said to be a button that can do various things.

It's a game that should be played with friends and family and, in the way many Nintendo games have done, it may end in fights and arguments and so forth. It's a fine attempt at doing Smash Brothers. Probably one that I won't be doing too often due to me being not too familiar with Ludosity's work outside of their Nickelodeon games (well, just the one game, actually). But still a fun game with decent graphics and good gameplay despite being in the shadow of the game that it's trying to copy, but attempt to do its own thing in the process. 8/10
