Random Video Game Review - LEGO 2K Drive

It's been quite a long time since LEGO last had a racing game. Since that time, racing games have evolved and now look fantastic and great fun to play. So with the LEGO company having kind of parted ways with TT Games (for now at least), this means that other major publishers have come around to create various games with the toy company and 2K, the creators of the BioShock and Borderlands games, have given us this. A racing game that attempts to be in similar vein to the two LEGO Racers games, while also trying to adapt current and new elements seen in more recent racing video games. Of course there was a LEGO DLC for a Forza game recently, but now we have a full-blown one which is the first of its kind in over 2 decades. So let's go for a drive in a bricky world where everything is or should be awesome:

The game has you race around from a third-person perspective in the fictional world of Bricklandia. Consisting of a number of fully explorable regions with destructible elements, mini-games and challenges in addition to a story too. Vehicles can transform during traversal areas and can be made using 1000 LEGO pieces, or pre-built ones from various LEGO themes can be used too. The game features a lot of multiplayer options, as to be expected with games like this.

Being a long time fan of the old LEGO racing games, I'm happy that we now finally have another one to play that's easy to access and on current platforms. It's also quite easy to play and pick up and the humour in the dialogue is on top form as to be expected. It's a fun game with a world that feels very much like how a LEGO racing world should be. I look forward to seeing more, but maybe not as a live service (my opinion). 8/10
