Sticking with Marvel, we now go to this miniseries, which is a spin-off to Hawkeye, set five months after that show. Being part of the Marvel Spotlight line up of things, this means that Marvel can be a lot more risqué with their content. Especially as the show is one of several to be about one of those characters that is a bit more diverse than the traditional characters. In this case, the main character is deaf, which does add some depth and all that. But anyway, let's see if this show proves to be a better mature Marvel show than Secret Invasion, which was a mess of a show:
Maya Lopez (reprised by Alaqua Cox) who goes by the name Echo, is being pursued by the organisation that Wilson Fisk (reprised by Vincent D'Onofrio) runs. This ultimately leads her into returning to her hometown, Oklahoma to attempt to let go of the past, embrace her heritage and those that she cares about. Using her deafness as a way to fool her enemies and anyone that tries to take her and her loved ones, down.
This show is OK for the most part. It's hard hitting and does have a slow pace, but it can be forgiven because it makes sense here. Developing a character that is quite unique to the MCU in perhaps a far different way to say Black Panther or Captain Marvel and even the non-human characters like Groot and Rocket Racoon. It's consistent, which I like in anything, and shows potential which is giving me a sense of hope that these Disney+ MCU shows are going to get better again and sooner rather than later. 8/10
