Well, I guess we were bound to get this game eventually. I mean, with there being so many films and franchises that DreamWorks have, games like this are great for fans. Much like with other games like it, it's a way to celebrate a company and everything it has done over the many years they have been around. But while not every franchise is in the game (possibly due to creative differences and said film wasn't popular initially), it's got the popular and big ones in there for sure. As well as some recent releases too. Also, I'm certain this is not the first time we have had a DreamWorks go-kart racing game. Think there was a Shrek one that came out many years ago, but I could be wrong about that. Anyway, let's once again race with the company that has the theme of friendship in all or most of its films:
The game is like every other kart racing game with different tracks, different modifications for your car, lots of characters to play as and companions in the form of the Trolls. Each character is fully voiced, but by voice actors instead of those that voiced them in the films and TV specials. Each power up, feels exclusive to each character, but behaves the same way, which isn't a bad thing necessarily. Films represented in the game include the Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragon, Boss Baby and Trolls franchises as well as The Bad Guys, Megamind and more.
This being made by the people who made the Nickelodeon go-kart games, it's alright for what it is. The voices can be a little annoying during the races, and it does try some new things like revealing hidden shortcuts and other things. The graphics feel cheapish, but overall, it's a solid racing game and one that fans of DreamWorks, like myself, will enjoy whether its playing alone or with friends. 8/10
