So now we take a look at probably the only thing that the manga its based on, has not had an anime adaptation as yet (as far as I know). Not only that, but this first in probably many seasons, is only 5 episodes long. Yeah, bit puzzled by that, but I'm sure there is a hopefully good reason for that. Anyway, don't know much about this one and I haven't read the manga, so this review will be solely on the show itself and drawing no comparisons to the manga. Let's go:
This 5 episode series, focuses on an often bullied junior high school student called Yusuke Urameshi (played by Takumi Kitamura). He somehow dies from saving a child in a car accident, but then gets resurrected to serve as an investigator for the supernatural. Training to learn various things, all leading into a bizarre, over-the-top battle at the end.
I know I'm not the only one that thinks this, but this series is too short. I usually expect there to be a good reason for a series to not be too long like if it was an anthology series, but it didn't work for me here. Just felt very rushed, not enough time to flesh things out and the CGI is pretty cheap looking (especially in the final climax). But I will say that the English translation was not all over the place and not too distracting for an otherwise Japanese-speaking show. If it does have another season, I hope its longer, more fleshed out and the CGI isn't too cheap looking. 7/10
