Movie Review - Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

You know, after 4 films (and other forms of media) of seeing Max navigate the new world, it's nice to finally see a spin-off to the series and one that nicely fits itself as a prequel to Fury Road. Having seen it twice in the cinema, it's pretty good for what it is. Much more tame than that film, but you still get a taste of madness, chaos and everything else that has made the franchise, what it is today. Plus, with two lead actors that have made a name for themselves in recent years (and are both darn well attractive too), we're in for what is hopefully a good time. Let's have a lovely day as we get nuts and crazy once again in the world of Mad Max:

The film is spread across 5 chapters like Zack Snyder's Justice League, which explores the origins of Furiosa (this time played by Anya Taylor-Joy with Alya Browne playing her as a child). A girl who was once living in one of the last remaining areas of the now radioactive Australia to have fresh water and agriculture. But raiders kidnap her as a supposed prize for their leader Dementus (played by Chris Hemsworth). After taking care of her mother, Dementus sets out to deliver Furiosa back to where she came from, but then ultimately settles for taking over the Citadel which puts him at odds with Immortan Joe (this time played by Lachy Hulme) and leads into a series of events that would change the wasteland forever. All the while, Furiosa plots her revenge on Dementus in secret.

Much like with Fury Road, there is a lot to like in this film. It's bonkers once again and has a few familiar faces appear that don't dissuade us from the main focus. It is much more tame compared to that other film, but there is lots of chaotic moments and road wars too. Plus, the lore is delved into a lot as well. Yeah, can't complain too much really, and it's not often that I would go and see a film at the cinema twice. 9.5/10

Yeah, I know I'm late to the party, but there is good reason for it. You see, after the main show ended, we UK folk didn't really ...
