PlayStation Vita Review (Wi-Fi Only model)

So the Vita was released last week and is Sony's new handheld for the 8th generation of gaming which sees the Vita compete with Nintendo's 3DS in the portable market of gaming. Does it live up to expectations. I shall reveal all:

Package:
The package of the handheld basically was what every packaging of a console would have which is the specs, the experiences and other stuff. In the box, you get the Vita, power adaptor (split into 3 parts) and the manuals. I got the Wi-Fi only model so I would think that anyone who gets the 3G model will probably get a SIM card with their console. Looking good so far. 9/10

Looks:
The looks of the console is similar to that of the PSP. The only differences are that their are 2 small analogue sticks, a front and rear touch screen and in the place of the UMD slot, there's a PS Vita slot, a memory card slot, and another slot which is probably for media. The console also has a front and rear camera and features all the usual controls of a PlayStation device. Still looking good. 9/10

Software:
The Vita has what all PlayStation devices have nowadays including the PS Store, media services and friends. Some of the new stuff that the Vita brings, includes a new menu that is different to that of the PSP and PS3, trophy support (the first portable console of the PS line to have that), features that are similar to StreetPass on the 3DS but works differently and some use of AR games. The games themselves show the graphics of a console game but with better detail. Its great in terms of that but could get better over time. 9/10

What I can say overall is that, while the console is great in terms of what it can over, the only downsides I have is the downloads take forever to do and the memory cards are so small that you could easily lose them. That's all I have to say. If you plan on buying the Vita, buy the 3G model if you're prepared to pay monthly bills from the service that you get (which for Europe and Australia is Vodaphone and AT&T for the US) and want to go online a lot and if you're the person who isn't bothered about Internet gaming, then buy the Wi-Fi model. Other than that, its a good console that could get better and better over time so, well done Sony!! 9/10
