Video Game Review: LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes

So, there has been a lot of hype for this game, especially for the voice acting and the open world gameplay. LEGO Batman 2 is another LEGO game that has been worked very hard on like with Harry Potter and Star Wars and it's certainly paid off. Here's my review of it:

Story:
The story of LB2 is very much an obvious and expected story. Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor have been nominated for a Man of the Year award which is interrupted by Joker and co. They begin wrecking havoc but are then one by one, taken down by Batman and Robin (with Superman coming in at the wrong time). Lex Luthor breaks Joker out of Arkham Asylum (and yes, Arkham City references come into play here) and with his new invention (which I will not give away as it is a spoiler), Lex and Joker form an alliance to take down The Man of Steel and The Dark Knight with the other DC Superheroes following. So yeah its a very obvious story to go by. Nothing too new or interesting there, but is still a good story. 8/10

Gameplay:
The gameplay of LB2 is of no surprise to anyone as its the same gameplay that we're probably getting tired of seeing by now. However, new gameplay mechanics make up for it. So we get some new costumes for Batman and Robin to use with the various heroes and villains having the advantages to the dynamic duo, such as Superman being strong enough to pull heavy objects (which only Batman can do if he has the power suit). The open world hub makes this, the first Batman game to allow players to roam all over Gotham City. Voice acting may be new to this era of LEGO games, but if you're as old as I am, you'll know that there have been other LEGO games with voice acting as well. These gameplay elements, make the game great, fun and enjoyable as the games have always done. 9/10

Graphics:
The graphics are very colourful, and with this being Batman, it shows a very dark tone to the game. All the LEGO models are well designed and fit the game perfectly, and all the heroes and villains in the game, all look exactly like their comic counter-parts. all in all, this gives the graphics 9/10.

Overall, the game is great, fun and is the closest you'll get from getting a game that's just as good as Arkham City so well done TT Games and WB Games!!! 9/10
