Video Game Series Review - Namco's X Series (excluding Street Fighter X Tekken)

Just to make it clear that I couldn't find any good images for this series, so the one above was the one that looked relevant to what I'm reviewing today. Anyway, so since gaming began, when we got a number of great franchises, a lot of fans wanted crossovers a plenty and we got just that. Today's crossover is a series of crossovers that feature many characters of Namco's franchises alongside the likes of Capcom and a number of others as well. Are they any good and do they do the franchises justice? Let's find out:

Namco x Capcom (footage review)
So beginning our fest of crossovers, we get this one. This one serves as both a tactical and action RPG which has its own story with only 2 original characters (the rest being those from Namco and Capcom's own franchises). These 2 characters work for a special unit called Shinra and they are tasked with investigating spirit and outworldly disturbances. When they are working on one of those cases, characters from other worlds and timelines, both good and evil, appear in Japan in the year 20XX (a fictional period of the 21st Century). Now I don't really need to go into too much detail here on how this RPG system works, but I will say that it does in a way, resemble that of the earlier Final Fantasy games (not saying that I have played them or anything, which I haven't and likely never will). Unfortunately, this is was only released in Japan at a time where the only 6th gen console I had was the original Xbox so therefore, I can't do a thorough review of this game, but I will say that it shows that a lot of work has been done on this game and from what I've seen, it looks like a great game, if you understand japanese which I can't but will go with it, nevertheless. 8/10

Cross Edge (footage review)
Now the plot/storyline of this game is a little bit similar to Kingdom Hearts as it involves finding and rescuing souls. Much like before, it has turn based battles and allows you to customize the female characters of the player's party in a wide variety of outfits (good luck finding any that will turn you on if you know what I mean). I can't really say that much else about this, because that's all there is to it. Not really that great at all. 7/10

Project X Zone
In the more recent entry that features Namco, Capcom and SEGA characters, as well as serving as a follow up to the first game in this series, this game is so far the best in the series. There are a huge number of characters in this game and like with before, its another turn based RPG which for the most part, is easy, but fun as well. Its great and I love the anime animation that goes around in it. But as for the 3D, it's not as superior as the likes of Super Mario 3D Land and Street Fighter 4, but it's still pretty good regardless. 9/10

Now just to make it clear that Street Fighter X Tekken is an official entry in this series, despite being developed and published by Capcom and a game that I have reviewed already and so is the upcoming Namco developed crossover game of almost the same name. As a series, these are crossovers that are both unexpected and in a way, entertaining. I like them a lot and I wish that future crossovers, take note of what's in these games, because they are good, but far too overlooked. 9/10
